The Rift

When aliens crash near a Maasai village and kidnap all the warriors, an American teenager and her very distant cousins must bridge the rift between their cultures to save their village.

The biggest thing Ryan learned after living in West Africa is that the average American knows very little about the vast array of people and cultures across the African continent.

With THE RIFT, he used the alien arrival genre as a way into the home of the average American while subversively introducing them to the Maasai people. Hopefully, by the end of the story, audiences have learned something new. And they see the continent differently.
