“I’m just a grunt. Not a politician. I don’t have an opinion on those things.”
— GUERILLA

GUERILLA is based on a short story from Ryan’s collection Stories of a Possible Future.

It’s the story of Beatrice Johnson, an aging soldier, pulled back from retirement for one last war. She wants nothing more than to step back and let the next generation of soldiers take over so that she can spend more time with her husband, Owen, and daughter, Annabelle. But this war is different and she’s the only one that can win it.

This is one of the only scripts centered around an aging female soldier. A well-trodden role for men. Beatrice is a character that will change the way we see war films.
