“His eyes serious and focused. A quiver of arrows slung over his shoulder. A sword sheathed on his waist. A bow tied behind the cantle of his saddle.”
— Last knight of Sudan

LAST KNIGHT OF SUDAN was one of the top 50 scripts in the 2013 Academy Nicholl screenwriting competition, the most competitive and prestigious screenplay competition in the world.

The story was inspired by the stories of South Sudan’s struggle for independence and the children Ryan taught as a Peace Corps volunteer in Benin, West Africa.

He wanted to tell a story about the imaginations of children. How no matter how much darkness they face, their imaginations will always shine through.
